We have been thinking long and hard about what to do in the absence of any clear instruction from the Government. The strong advice is currently that we should all avoid going to Pubs and Restaurants, whilst at the same time, we are at liberty to remain open.
We have already been experiencing a greatly reduced footfall over the last couple of weeks and have now been in touch with all organisers of up-coming events to discuss cancellations and postponements.
Tomorrow, (Wednesday) is our normal day for re-stocking for the coming week, quite a costly exercise, which is generally paid for by the sales taken largely over the weekend. It is looking increasingly likely that the closure of Pubs and Restaurants will be enforced any day now which would make re-stocking now a huge waste of money.
We are very much aware that our average customer base is made up of people in the higher risk category as defined by the Medical Experts - As am I - so in order to safeguard both ourselves, and our regular visitors we have decided to temporarily close.
We hope that all of these measures are successful in slowing the spread of the virus and that we can all come through this crisis unscathed.
With any luck, we will be able to resume normal activities soon, but in the meantime, stay safe everyone.
